MAGAGrid.US Discussions / Re: Hackers gonna hack!
« Last post by Uncle Sam on August 30, 2024, 01:40:10 pm »
I finally got the welcome island restored and posted it on the OpenSimWorld directory. Within minutes I had a DOS attack coming from a couple different IP addresses. One from the US, one from Germany. Sigh...  Same ole same ole.
I'm sorry I can no longer offer local accounts on this forum, the website, or on the MAGA Grid. The hackers have made that impossible as when I enable them they are constantly creating tons of accounts which they use to pummel the website with BS traffic, bringing it to its knees as the bandwidth I have gets quickly consumed. Same with the grid databases as junk junk and more junk is uploaded through those accounts to clog my servers. Hopefully my strategy of only allowing hypergrid traffic will help this time.

OpenSim Host Grids
Which OpenSim providers could I use as a  host?

Short answer, any OpenSim provider that has HyperGrid enabled. Most do, but there are a few that are what are called "closed grids", just check with the service before you register.

All of these are supposed to be HyperGrid enabled but you should still double check before you register, things change in the metaverse.

Of these, OSGrid is the parent grid for the OpenSimulator project.

Beyond using someone else as your provider, OpenSim will allow you to create your own standalone region or your own grid if you desire. A fair amount of technical knowledge is needed but resources exist to explain what all is required/needed to become your own host. Grids come and go, some offer backups of your inventory and your regions, some do not. When they go your inventory can go with them if you don't have a backup to restore on another grid. Hosting your own standalone or grid will allow your to be in charge of your inventory, leaving no one to blame but yourself if your inventory is lost.

My advice, to start, find an established provider, as you learn more about how it all works, then consider hosting yourself if you enjoy it enough to worry about your inventory, if  not, continue to use a provider.

I'd also recommend you try to find a provider that has a server close to your physical location. Or at least try a few out to start to figure out which might work better for you.

MAGAGrid.US In-World / What it could be...
« Last post by Uncle Sam on August 28, 2024, 10:06:32 pm »
What it could be, it could be a grid where people could connect their own simulator (pre-configured software provided) to represent their state. Regions are required to use a provided terrain map (in the shape of their state) but after that it would be the sim owners (the virtual governor) discretion on what to offer on the state region. Hopefully it would be an education about your state. State animals, state flowers, flag of, famous people and events the state is known for. Industry, history, etc., you get the picture. 50 States to celebrate all that is great about America! All regions on the grid would be "family friendly" (plenty of other hypergrid locations for adult activities exist) allowing you to bring you families and friends in to explore the greatness of each state together. With support, we could make America great again virtually. A haven for free thought and the unfiltered truths the media and those in control don't wish for us to know.

So, in a nutshell... I'm going to do what I can to battle for America, the classic America, by providing a 3D virtual world where free speech can rule with the only filter being the filter of "Truth, Justice, and the American way" (did I mention your avatar can fly in-world? :-).

If it doesn't gain a following, it'll stay just at that, if it does, then it'll expand to include each individual state. And perhaps one day actually become a host and offer residential (personal) simulators to connect to the grid and specialized locations for iconic builds like the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls, Bourbon Street, Wrigley Field, Hartsfield Airport, Plymouth Rock, or your home town, etc. etc..

MAGAGrid.US In-World / What MAGA Grid US is not
« Last post by Uncle Sam on August 28, 2024, 09:59:39 pm »
What is is not, it is not a "host" for all your Open Simulator needs. Direct access (local accounts) to the grid are only allowed for staff, hypergrid guests are welcome from all grids that are "hypergrid" enabled (lots and lots of options exist). You would need to have or create an account at one of the grids that is a "host", then take a hypergrid teleport to MAGA Grid US. "Why you gotta be that way Uncle Sam? (my grid Admin username)" you ask. I am a small potato living somewhere between unemployment and retirement, providing three servers and single handedly creating and managing the website, the grid and grid regions are about all I can muster. Bandwidth is currrently limited and eventually perhaps some donations could be accepted and used to "up" the bandwidth if it turns out people find this a valuable "free speech" zone. Your OpenSim host will be the keeper of your personal inventory, inventories in virtual worlds can quickly grow to be quite sizable, that is the main reason for no direct access. Keeping up with all your inventory is another reason, I don't have the time, nor do I want to be responsible for your inventory (which should be cleaned, organized, and backed up regularly). Come visit, chat, share, learn, then go home and take your stuff with ya! :-)

MAGAGrid.US In-World / What can I do in MAGAGrid.US?
« Last post by Uncle Sam on August 03, 2024, 03:38:19 pm »
As I stated in other places here, my virtual world has been hacked and destroyed multiple times but when it is fully back up and running you can... watch a virtual boat parade, take a ride on the Freedom Eagle, visit Obama and Hillary in jail, get some free Trump promotion items, learn about the United States, take a ride on the Trump Train, attend a virtual Trump Rally with friends, discuss current events with other like minded individuals either by text or by voice, listen to some patriotic music, watch a fireworks show celebrating the USA (it is always July 4th in MAGAGrid.US).

MAGA Grid US is a virtual world based on the Open Simulator project. It is a 3D world in which you can walk, fly, swim, dance, talk, build, etc. There are thousands of locations on hundreds of grids you can visit. What you'll find when you get there is whatever the person made. MAGA Grid US is all about making America great again and trying to cast the light of truth on the man the myth the legend of Donald John Trump. Mr. Trump was loved by the media until he chose to run and become the 45th president of the United States. Then the media spent their energy trying to paint lies and discredit the man. Hopefully MAGAGrid.US will be a place when people can discuss the truth without the propaganda that the media is constantly injecting into our conversations.

You can visit MAGAGrid.US from any hypergrid enabled virtual world at the "http://magagrid.us:8002/" address. If you're familiar with the Open Simulator project you will know what to do with that address to arrive at the MAGA Grid Welcome  Center. If not there are several tutorials available on the internet to explain, I would suggest you start with either the OpenSimulator, org website or OSGrid.org website. The OSGrid.org site is a good place to have as a home world in Open Simulator as it is the official test site of the project and it is the largest, offering the most help and information to get in-world and to start enjoying all that is the Open Simulator project but there are many to choose from. Go dancing, text chat or voice chat with friends, take in a live concert, go swimming, pilot a boat, pilot a plane, take a spaceship for a ride, race a car, or visit a pro Trump world promoting all that is DJT 45. All these are possible in the worlds of Open Simulator.

MAGA Grid US is an OpenSim based 3D virtual world focused on celebrating America and being American. Currently the focus is to provide a location where people can learn about the candidates and what they offer or don't offer to the future of America. Here will be posters, memes, models, videos, speeches, soundbytes and signage viewable in a 3D world that you can share with others. Through voice chat (private or group), text chat (private or group) or chosen animations you can walk and talk with friends or new friends and have lively discussions that, sadly in America today, would be banned or blocked on the major platforms. Once the election is over, the grid will continue to celebrate "all things American".
